Nerello Mascalese: this native wine varietal is one of the most ancient and characteristic ones in Sicily. It is highly versatile and often employed as blending wine. Single-variety vinification results in red wines characterized by refined tannins, nice acidity and mineral content. This still version is elegant with a robust personality, a intense and fruity aroma.
Nerello Mascalese 100%
This wine varietal found a perfect habitat in a 0,5 hectars vineyard trained on a Guyot system (6000 plants per hectar), located on a 300 meters hilltop in contrada Costa di Bisaccia. The soil is mainly made of dolomitic sand, with a North-East exposure. This vineyard is our closest to the Tyrrhenian Sea and benefits from the frequent mistral breeze.
6-7 days grape maceration. It ages in big, old barrels for 1 year, followed by at least 6 month of bottle aging.
